COVID-19 Care Coordinators Inc. Response

Dear Families, Friends and Colleagues,

We understand that there is much public uncertainty with the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are all facing challenges never seen before as we conduct business in adherence with mandatory and voluntary social distancing. We want you to know that we have instituted a number of actions designed to keep employees, visitors to our office and our clients/wards safe.

At this time our office remains open. As our part of the planet (Tucson) may experience an increase in confirmed cases, we will adapt to those changes and regulations and keep you informed.

We are taking steps to reduce risks as outlined by the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/) as well as adapting protocols to our unique population. Those steps include cleaning our office spaces throughout the day, frequent hand-washing/sanitizing, social distancing and scheduling changes for office and community interactions.

Because our office acts as fiduciaries and care managers for at-risk populations, we are particularly sensitive to the need to employ hand-washing/sanitizing before we have contact with clients/wards. Those employees who often go into the field have been asked to pay particular attention to the need for regular and thorough hand-washing and social distancing. For those potential and current clients/wards, we’ll offer to reschedule or change appointments to telephone (or conference) calls.  Visits that aren’t conducive to telephonic or computer interfaces can still continue but with appropriate social distancing and sanitary measures.  Our overall goal is to minimize risk while providing service.

For our current clients/wards at home we are making efforts to ensure that they have what they will need at home including at least a month’s supply of prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, gloves, disinfecting wipes, food and other supplies. In-home care staff for those clients/wards have already received protocols for maintaining a safe home environment per the CDC guidelines. In addition, those agencies that we contract with to provide in-home services have assured us that they are also following the CDC guidelines and have instructed their staff in the protocols.  We are limiting care manager home visits to only those which are necessary to ensure all protocols are followed and to make sure needs are being met. We are increasing efforts to reduce exposure for clients/wards who typically go into the community by arranging home-delivered food, medical supplies, or other needs as indicated.

For those clients/wards in facilities or adult care homes visits are now limited per facility protocols so we are relying on telephonic exchanges for updates. Some of those facilities are also equipped to provide video exchanges with clients.

We are also postponing all non-urgent or medically necessary appointments until further notice to reduce community exposure.

We hope this helps our clients, wards, their families and other visitors feel more at ease with our efforts to respond to this pandemic. We’ll monitor closely, and adjust our response level as need be.  As always, please email or call should you have any questions or concerns.

Stay healthy!
